From Marcus Wittig in Medelin, Colombia:

Andrew Stein played basketball for Cedarville University in OH, and then went on to be the assistant coach at Lewis-Clark State College.  On the invitation of a Columbian friend (one of our lads who we sent to the States for a high school exchange), he came to Columbia on a mission team.  Learning that he was a basketball player and coach, I spoke with him about our dream of having a basketball program alongside our soccer...

"Heaven's foolishness" took over.  Andrew joined MAI, raised his support and by November 2023, was back in Columbia inviting adolescents to learn to play basketball.

They aren't winning tournaments yet, but their lives are being impacted by Andrew's Gospel.  Daniel Suarez, for example, was one of the first lads to join his program.  However, after a time, his family could no longer economically support themselves in the Andalucia neighborhood (a relatively poor one), and they had to move away to an even poorer neighborhood to live with extended family.  Despite being a good hour away from public transportation, Daniel insisted with his mom that he wanted to keep practicing with Andrew.  A way was provided for him to do so, and he is now a keen young leader in Andrew's program.  The goal is to multiply this basketball outreach throughout the city.

Keep Andrew, Daniel and the program in your prayers.
