Report from Mark Wittig, Christian Union Sports Club, a sports ministry in Colombia, South America.
Cosdecol, Columbia is a ministry born in Medellin in the late 1980’s, around the time that everything came unglued in Medellin, as the government tried to close down the Medellin drug cartel. The cartel reacted by training and hiring thousands of young men to be their hitmen. Cosdecol provided an escape from the gang life that many young people were falling into. Instead, it provided them with an outlet to play soccer competitively and also learn about God. This ministry has been successful in providing a way for many young men in Columbia to avoid a life of crime, to do something productive with their lives and to become followers of Jesus Christ.
On May 15, 2024, Mark Wittig, one of our mission partners, sent us a report on Cosdecol and the Liberty University men´s soccer team. “In 2023, the team visited us for a week of mission and service. Out of that visit, a video was made via their AV dept., which was recently nominated for an Emmy! Enjoy, rejoice and pass it on! Thanks always for helping to make our ministry possible with your prayers and giving! Blessings, Mark Wittig.”
